Never trust AI output before it passes six axes. This check takes five minutes and catches 90 percent of AI slop.
Score every axis from 1 to 5
Open the six-axis test and score:
- Specificity — could this text move to another brand unchanged? If yes, score 1.
- Visual decisions — is there deliberate asymmetry, or is everything centered and generic?
- Copy — are there facts, numbers, and mechanisms? Or only adjectives?
- Structure — one page one main axis, one button one verb?
- Data honesty — any invented brands, prices, metrics, or testimonials?
- Consistency — is the font and color pairing used the same everywhere?
A non-negotiable pass rule
Below 3 on any axis means revise before shipping. No exceptions for "tight deadlines".
A quick revision example for generic copy:
- Avoid: "Innovative solutions for your needs"
- Use: "Manage 12 client projects on one board, free for 30 days"
Full patterns live in the copywriting rules plus the banned words list — 24 words to replace.
Make it a habit, not an event
Paste this checklist at the end of every brief:
Six-axis check: every axis >= 4, else revise.
No invented brands, prices, metrics, or testimonials.
Five minutes of checking saves five hours of client revisions.
